Yes, Find Duplicate option is what we really need.
While trying to reproduce your issue we couldn’t find it even in Excel.
So it would be really great to have it in MTH.

One of my databases has some 30,000 records. The unique column is NAME. I have no idea how to find duplicates without searching and reviewing every individual record. That would take an eternity.
If there was a FIND DUPLICATE function based upon user’s choice of column, that would certainly make it a lot easier.
And when I attempt to update, I am adding dozens of new records, or trying to change dozens of existing records. It doesn’t seem to make sense to do it one record at a time.
I may be missing something. I would like to remove the duplicates but don’t know how to find them without looking at each record individually.

This is the way it works now.
Yes, when you working with one record it’s confusing and you expecting another result.
But think it if you have 500 duplicates and importing 300 another records. it’s a pain and I can’t imagine how to handle it.
Updating by unique column is common solution and you can find just the same in another systems like MTH.
However, we always ready to change system, add another option or feature. Especially if you will describe how it should be, but not only for your single case, but for another users too.
Because, like I said, most users will update many records in time.
For updating records they just use Search, found some record – click Edit – hit Update, and there is no need to use Import → Update – copy from Excel etc.

There are some duplicates.
BUT I tried IMPORTING only one record, after having made sure there was only one such record in the database on MYTASKHELPER. The NAME on both the MYTASKHELPER and the NAME in the IMPORT were identical. A couple of the columns in IMPORT were different and that was the reason for updating.
NAME = Blacke
Are you saying that no IMPORT of any kind can be done if there are ANY duplicates, even if those are not the records being updated ???

We have investigated your problem.
If you need to import a data to database using some column (for example Name) – in this column should be only unique records.
In your database the column Name has identical records.
Please, to correct import, use column with unique records.

If you have database with just two columns: Name and Age, with such records
Name Age

If you will have two Igor’s, like this:
Name Age
Igor 25
Ivan 26
Nata 27
Igor 28
import will show you your last error message.
And your first error message can be when you have entered something like this:
Name Age Name
Igor 25 asd
Ivan 26 aaa
Nata 27 aaa
Igor 28 aaa
i.e. two column with same name
And you select to update by name. Then you should have
Name Age
Igor 28
Ivan 29
in your Excel file (make sure to copy/paste from Excel and not type it in import text box).
So, when you hit import it should update your database and it will be looks like this:
Name Age
Igor 28
Ivan 29
Nata 27

Sorry – didn’t see it. I should have known better. You always do a good job.
Most probably you didn’t saw it because blue flash message dissapears in 5 seconds.
So we changed it to red message, which will only dissapear after you will close it or refresh page.

Sorry – but I don’t see that. I see the numbers down the side, for each record found, but I was looking for a total statement like “XXXX RECORDS FOUND” or something like that.

I would like for the name that has a link, to be underlined, and perhaps a different color (but that’s not necessary). No other column as it is already getting very wide and requires a lot of scrolling.
When a viewer sees a name that is underlined, he would know that he could click on that name and be taken to a different page outside on a different website.
Seems if I checked Validate and URL, it would open up a new box in which I would enter the URL. Close the box and it becomes an attached hidden link for that particular name.
I don’t expect you to redo your software just for me. I appreciate the consideration, and can live without this feature.

My suggestion was to use URL validation, it just checks if you enter valid URL in text field.
What you need is to make links from text in data cells.
I’m not sure how it should looks like for you.
For example, we may want to create new Field Type called URL.
And on the form it will be looks like ‘Enter name of the link’ and ‘Enter URL’ and in database it will be looks like proper link, where name linked to entered URL.
We will think about it little bit and implement it for you.

I am not understanding your suggestion. I have a database of names and data. I want certain names to be a link to an outside page. In this case, click on a certain name, and be taken to a page with that person’s wartime diary.
I went back to Form Builder and clicked on Validate and URL and submitted. I don’t see any change, except if I click on that name I get a “can’t find”. I would expect to see a box in which I can type the path of the link and then attach that path to a name. Each name would have a different path, but not all names would have links.

DabbleDB actually handles a variety of options for dates and times, either when setting default values, or when searching.
They include “today,” “yesterday,” “tomorrow,” and “next week.”
So, for example, when adding a new task, the default start date can be set to “today” and the default due date could be automatically set to “next week.”

Because it is temporaly disabled.
We working on improving this part of functionality.
We have this feature from early stages of MTH (2007),
because our aim is to have real object oriented database.
However, we want it to staty easy-to-use, this is why improving it.
The way dabbledb handles it and the way we had it not good enought and we will open upgraded functionality this month with a lot of other improvements.

I agree that when you have ‘Today Date’ field you don’t want to select today’s date each time. It would be great if we can set ‘Default’ value for Date, Date & Time fields as ‘Today’ or ‘Now’.

You will see ‘URL’ option. Check it and MTH will assume that all data in this column are URL’s and will link it.

you are right. You can proceed this way.
You will receive emails and link to new entry and you can decide what to do with this new entry, copy it to needed xxth division database or delete.
I just thought that you can add xxth Form Widget to each xxth directory and it will automatically be added to your xxth listing.
If you need it to be reviewed/edited before going to database widget you can enable database moderation.
Hope it makes sense for you.
Looks like the questions and answers are getting jumbled up a little.
I have 5 separate databases, all are Rosters of WW2 and Korean War Veterans, classed by Army Divisions – 28th, 30th, 31st, 83rd, and 106th. Each is found on a separate website at www.IndianaMilitary.org That site has a link for each, plus much other historical info.
I wanted the form to be emailed to me and not to be added to any of the above listed databases. That is left up to me after I get the email. The one form will capture info for all the divisions, with one line asking for the division name.
I think I may understand – when a person fills out the form and submits, I will get an email telling me to go look at that form (which is a small database) and the new data should be here and I can copy or delete as I choose.
I wish I was smarter.
Re: notification about previous questions. Are you talking about this forum emails? It looks like we sending emails to all users in this topic after each reply. We may need to investigate it more if it looks like a forum defect.

when your users will fill your form you will automatically receive email about it with all the data entered to your form.
You will also receive link to this added entry.
Just go to ‘Widget Builder’ → “Form Widget” and fill form here – you should receive email shortly.
Also, as I understand you separated forms from existent database.
But this new forms will collect data for your current projects?
I’m not sure why you did it. If data entered in forms are the same as in the database you can use the same project for this.
We also have Moderation feature, – when users will add new entries through your form it will not be shown on your database widget until your moderation.
If you need another columns heading – I’m with you you only need to add new project for this. Also, if you need to hide some columns in database widget you can do it also in database widget settings.

I think I understand partially. I have created a brand new project that I want viewers to change or add information to my 5 separate databases. It would be a separate link on my website, such as “Click here to add or modify information”. It would not be associated with any database – that would be up to me after I receive the update.
But what I wanted, was for the SUBMIT button to send the completed form to me as an email. I can’t find any place to tell SUBMIT to do that ?

We glad to hear you’ve successfully built your database.
It would be great if another dabble db users can do the same.
By the way, it would be great if you will not delete your topics, because it would be very helpful for other users.
Regarding new form: you can just create new project or add ‘New form’ in Form Builder and it will be separated from your existed projects.
When you adding every new form it automatically creates database back-end for it. So you can create any kind of forms: contact forms, registration form, online order form.
If you only interested in creating database you creating your form for filling database.
For example, if you want to create People database you will add form ‘People’ with ‘Name’, ‘Age’ etc. fields (columns).
Then you can start adding people and will see data table on Records menu or in Database Widget where you can share it on the web.

Choose United States and you will see new field US States, choose another country and states will dissapear.
Another field asks you if you are married, if you answer is Yes it will ask your wife name.

You can find/invite people to your project and make them members or administrator. maybe it will fit your needs?
We also planning to make big improvement to this teaming functionality, permissions restrictions etc.
Regarding filtering 0-9, A..Z – yes we are going to do it, just a bit later. Because we are on the way of introducing conditional logic functionality which will be useful for you also.
Regarding login system I’m not sure what do you mean, maybe it’s still that Team module what you are looking for.
Also we do plan so add one more layer of widgets protection ‘by password’ so you can only allow people who knows password to see form or database widget.
We wil definitely let you know first if we will have something new for you.

Теперь Вы можете оставить необходимый Вам формат ворд: *.doc
и размер 0,3 мегабайта.

That time stamp does not seem to be searchable. I would want to be able to filter the category similar to the way I would any other category. I don’t need the IP or “Created” or “Updated”. All I need is date and time.
Is this possible without me having to export the data and create an Excel formula to pull out the relevant information?

Please, go to Form Builder, find your URL field and click ‘Validation’. You will see ‘URL’ option under ‘Email’ option.
Please, check it and give it a try. It should validate if user entered correct URL, also after entry added to database it will be linked, all links opened in new window.

I’ve made some changes within the file so the text now assembling in the correct way.
Most of the problems were with the Issue headers – they were assembled too much to the left.
Those headers must be placing right above the radio buttons (Or any other segment).
Also the page header must centralize to the right as possible.

See, if you will delete records from your project – record number is not what you want to use.
And if you need unique number we can use records id in database, it is absolute unique, like this ‘a0BM2E_Q4r3Q0EackWwstf’.
But if it is too long for you we have short, but still unique id in records ‘more’ section. You can see it by clicking ‘More’ link at the right side of each entry.
However, we do not have abbility to email this id to user yet. So we may want to add option to include this unique id in confirmation email (confirmation email feature we just added for you).
So user will have confirmation email with body entered by you in form widget + line at the bottom: ‘Unique ID: a0BM2E_Q4r3Q0EackWwstf’
Also, we may need to include this ‘unique ID’ to the search criteria list in search form.

Sorry for the late reply. For some reason I only received the emails about your reply today.
I never thought of the row number and that could work now that you mention it.
Let me explain the reason and maybe it will make more sense. I have a application that users can download and use. Now for support reason I want to give users the option to submit a problem and then I can reply to them with help. So they would fill out your form and then the unique ID number would be linked to there form and emailed to them automatically. This gives them a point of reference. SO when they come back later and search for there problem they can search via there unique number. Or if I reply directly to them by email I can quote there unique number.
I see that you have already set up the email option. I haven’t looked at it but will shortly. I will let you know what I think. Thanks for the help and quick updating of a wonderful service

You can set reply-to, subject, body, from email headers.

Please pay attention that the following code also should be placed within the Hebrew pages sources:

Those codes will also alow Google to locate and presents the Hebrew pages correctly.
This code must be placed with all other enncoding codes – including the UTF-8.

Thank you for notifying me about the changes concerning the Hebrew encoding.
I’ve reviewed your site’s pages and here are my comments:
A) The right-to-left are OK now, fit to Hebrew users.
B) The text located within the columns (file created at the 01/31/2010 at 09:20) should be in right-to-left centering encoding.
C) the RECORDS tab:
1. When pressing the VIEW next to a chosen file – the screen contents still in the English left-to-right encoding, it should be in the Hebrew right-to-left of course.
2. When pressing the EDIT option next to a chosen file – the screen bottom had cut off and can’t provide the page’s lower area (I guess it should provide the “Update” button).
The Form Builder tab is fine and correct.
D) Widget Builder
1. Encoding are incorrect, it should also provide the Hebrew encoding as right-to-left.
2. The entire contents are cut as it’s too much into the page’s left margin.
3. when clicking on the Direct Link option – the entire contents placed, but the encoding looks bad.
This is very important as this page is the final version that will be provides to the Hebrew’s users. At this time it is not recommended to have it like this.
I didn’t found the excel data that uploaded by you few weeks ago, please advise.

As you can see from my previous reply we already generating unique id. But we want to make automated emails as well.
The way we planning to do it is:
In form widget settings you will be able to choose:
Sent email to ‘select your email form field’ with ‘body’
will it be enought for you?
And are you sure that we should send only to user but not cc this email to you? This way you will know when someone submitted something to your project.

However we really need your feedback on it, because it’s something not obious for us at all :)
Regarding changing locales on widget pages – it is something we can’t do now. However we do plan to add options for database owners to set default locale for their form and to add change locale options right to the widget, so user can change locale if he need.
We awaiting few more translates to start working on it (one from you ;) ).

Єдине, я не зрозумів кілька моментів.
1. В базі 299 записів, відповідно, стільки ж і точок. Відображається лише 32… Я думав стане більше при наближенні, але на жаль, ні… (Зверніть увагу на те, що в моєму випадку всі точки вистроюються в прямі лінії – може причина криється в цьому?)
2. Опис точки (маркера). Я думав він буде не по типу підсвіки тайтла, а спливаючим віконцем (здається, Гугл називає це InfoWindowHtml). І я думав можна буде задати вівід не лише одного поля з бази у це віконце, а кількох (Наприклад, при кліку на маркер в спливаючому віконці відображаються інфа: НАЗВА, ОПИС, АДРЕСА, що є, по суті, відповідними полями запису в базі, з якого сформовано точку). Відповідно, логічно було б мати можливість не тільки відмічати які саме поля показувати в інфовікні, а й налаштовувати порядок цих полів…

Ми додали більше опцій до карт.
Зараз ти можеш обрати чи показувати типи карт (ландшафт і т.п.),
встановлювати розмір карти і розмір віджету (ширину і висоту),
задавати зум і взагалі прибирати або показувати його.
Звісно ж Ви зможете задавати центр карти, назву маркеру і отримати код віджету карти, або прямий лінк.
Щодо великої кількості точок, то з цим проблем не має бути.
Сподіваюсь це те, що Вам потрібно!

Він присвоює передостінній колонці тип поля, скажімо LAT, а отсанній колонці – LONG і отримує карту з точками, дані для яких беруться з таблиці. При кліку по маркеру точки отримуємо опис точки, дані для якого беруться з тієї ж таблиці. Було б добре мати можливість налаштовувати що і в якій послідовності показувати в описі, а що – ні.
Центрування карти. Центр карти або задається вручну, або визначається автоматично на основі крайніх точок.
Готову карту можна інтегрувати на будь-яку сторінку через фрейм, налаштувавши розміри.
Це основа. Додатково ж можна ще зробити супер-навороти…
Якщо точок дуже багато, то зазвичай ініціалізація карти відбувається дуже довго (та й, інокли за тисячами точок просто не видно самої карти). (Або ж навпаки – якщо у певній частині мало точок у порівняннні з іншою її частиною (3 точки і 1200 точок), то при мінімальному зумі може бути не видно, що в цій частині карти є точки) Щоб уникнути цього можна зробити такий фінт: cкрипт розбиває мапу на полігони і відображає або кольором полігону, або цифрами інтенсивність точок в конкретній частині карти, не показуючи при цьому самих точок. Якщо ж наближати карту до певної межі, то замість полігонів починаємо бачити самі точки.
Отакеот. Якщо згадаю ще якісь фішки – допишу.
Наскільки це все реально реалізувати на вашому сервісі?

However, maybe it were fine with attachment, because it’s a MTH form and I’m receiving link/notification about attachment via email. Si I were able to see your screenshot. So, maybe it’s fine, it’s some kind of secure attachment, not in all cases you may want to show your screenshots to everyone.
But from your file not clear where is a problem.
Yes we do not showing all fields, we skipping Note, Divider fields, which can’t be used for search.

If you need something more complex it is not in our first priorities too, so can take up to two months to implement. Or faster in case you put your feature to the top
I do not see your screenshot. This is probably because it is not clear how to use our reply attachment form. When you’ve uploaded your attachment you should see link to it, you have to manually copy it and paste to your reply. We will write howto or faw or blog post for this.

Great! The “Section Heading” is the same color as the rest of the text. The option you put to change the “Section Heading” doesn’t refer to anything though. Will this eventually make it so that you can change the “Section Heading” color different from the rest of the text color? Still, our form is perfect now. I’ll send my business partner a link and ask her what she thinks. Our site is not set to go live until mid-March 2010. When we’re live, I’ll send you the link. Both you and your team have been an invaluable aspect of our business-start-up efforts (many, many thanks to ALL involved with MTH!). I just realized that you were talked about section heading text color. And I though that problem is in the line below it :)
So we’ve fixed it by assigning section ehading text color the same as all your form text color.
However you still should be able to change that line color, looks very nice for me :)

I’m glad my suggestions are useful. I tried out the “Section Heading” color changing option and although the color pallet appears fully functional, when I try to view my changes, it’s still “default black” and the color hasn’t changed.
If you keep trying to tweak it, I’ll test it out, later, to see it’s functioning correctly and actual changes the “Section Heading” color. I’ll keep you posted. Thanks! ;D

Just to let you know, the “Section Heading” color is stuck on the color black (as a default) and if your background color is black also, the same issue will occur (your working will disappear). Is there any way you could include a color selecting option for the “Section Heading” text as well?
Also, the “Reply” button at the top of this forum page still does nothing when you click on it. Many thanks again! :D

In widget builder you can enable database moderation – your records will need to be approved before they will be shown in the database widget.
And you are right Bann IP is on records page at the right side of each entry. Sure, you can unbann in case of error. Please, click on ‘More’ link at the right side of the entry and you will see the ‘All banned IP’s’ link.
This is the place where you can unbann users if needed at any time.

Thanks for following through on the fixes to MTH. The highlighted blocks functions as it should. The only thing is, one can’t use light colored (or white text) otherwise the words will not be visible, or disappear. Perhaps, try making the words grows “slightly” larger as one mouses over each section, instead of highlights, that way people can truly choose what every text color they want.
I see the upload option on the forum, looks great. The only thing is your ‘Reply’ button at the top on the forum, isn’t working (but the one at the bottom is). I see the upload option that was added…thanks for providing that.
I also see the "ban IP’ option, hopefully, there is a way to undo the “ban IP” option, should one of my staff select this in error.

We’ve fixed that issues with highlighting web form fields.
Please, let us know if it looks fine for you now.
Also, please, notice that we added appload forum attachment form.
It took more time then usual because we wanted to use MTH functionality for doing this. This is why we’ve added Redirect to entry page option to widget builder for being able to redirect to the attachment entry after uploading.
You can also use this feature for showing your users what they just submitted to your database.
For adding attachment to topic you have to upload you file and copy/paste this file URL to your topic body.
Also we’ve pushed few new security features.
Database moderation and Bann IP.
Again it may be useful for you to avoid showing not moderated records in database widget. Or if you can bann users using their IP addresses.

Actually you should be able to see users IP on Records page.
Please, notice ‘More link’ at the right side of each entry.
However, as I understand you need more then that.
We already have this approve adding records feature request.
So there is something similar between this tasks.
Do you need this ‘Bann IP’ feature only inside MTH, or do you want to see IP and ‘Bann’ link right into your integrated widget at the right side of each record, or on the widget record page. I mean the page, which you see when you click on record number.

I see how you can customise it, but how about going that little bit further?
What if i want my displayed results to look ‘less’ like an excel spreadsheet, and ‘more’ like my own implemented design.

I might need some assistance with the data integration.
But i’ll explain further as to the type of thing I am looking to do.
Go to the following site: www.carsales.com.au
There is a drop down list for “Make”, which has every make/ brand of car available for sale. So I will select “Toyota” as the car ‘make’.
The next drop down box is “Model”. If I had selected “Any Make” in the previous “Make” drop down box, the model of every car available for sale would have been displayed. However, since I selected “Toyota” as the ‘Make’, only “Toyota” branded car models are available to select in the ‘Model’ drop down list.
Then I click on the “State” where I am located in another drop down box, then the next drop down box after that is titled “Region”, and only regions from within my selected state appear in the list.
This way, the data is sorted dependent on the previously selected options.
There may also be circumstances when I would need to select multiple options, for example, if I wanted to purchase a Toyota Celica or a Toyota Supra, then perhaps having the functionality to Ctrl-Select multiple car makes/ models would be ideal!

You can integrate both form and database widget on the same page.
Just copy widget code from Form and DAtabase widget in MTH and palce to your web page.
Once you will neter some data to your form and refresh page it will appear in your database widget as well.
You can edit look & design in the Widget Builder, or you can apply your own styles.
Please, investigate how our users do it. Please, see few examples below or get back to us.

You can find the way to do it in Widget Builder.
Please, see Database Widget section.
Same with form, see Form Widget.
You can embed your form for data input and below, in the other section, have database integrated.
So, when any new entry will be added using form it will be seen below in database section.
Regarding your drop downs questions: it’s not possible right now. However we very interested in implementing it.
Now you can achieve this by creating several forms. If you can provide any screenshots, more examples it will be very helpful for us so we can build exactly what you need.

It’s not really clear for me how users will use it. You will share your issues table and they will refer to entry using this number?
But why to do not use just row number? Please, let me know. Maybe we will need to add an option to include this existent unique id to database widget.

Added Team page, where you can invite members, and promote/demote team members to owners/members. Members can only view records, and couldn’t edit something.
