Editable/non-Editable Database Links - New

Hello Igor

It would significantly enhance the possibilities of the system if users are given a choice of Editable AND non-Editable links (both Embanded and Direct) at the same time simultaniously.

At the moment as a user I can only choose to have one of the above. However, ideally I would need to give my client a link to the table that is only possible to view and to my employees the link to the same table that would give an option to Edit. Without need to log it to mytaskhelper website.

I understand that the above would probably mean significant amount of work, but the result is obvious. Then, also, there will be no need for a “tick” to be put to allow users to edit records as those unauthorized to edit would just be given non-editable link.

Whould you be looking at something like the above. I know there was a similar request already to do multi profile (if I’m not mistaken).

Thank you for posting this feature request and for your detailed explanation!

As I understand we’ll new new option ‘Allow both Editable and non-Editable database widgets’. If this option enabled you’ll be able to use two pairs of direct link/iframe code for both editable and not-editable tables.

If ‘Allow both Editable and non-Editable database widgets’ option will be disabled, – and it will by default, – even if you know the link for editable table it will not work. Because such possibility will be disabled inside MTH for security reasons.

Because if you have such feature enabled and you have people who know the difference between such links, they can use it to access the link they shouldn’t have access too.

But if you’ve enabled this feature yourself, you probably know the risks and will still use it.

To be honest this feature isn’t in our priority, we too busy right now with other features. But I’d like to let you know that we moving users request to the top in case user has budget to support this feature development. In other case, user will need to wait while we’ll start working on it or while other MTH users will support this feature requests with votes or donates.

Anyway, thanks for generating great features, they will be done for sure. It took normally not more then month to implement all new features, if it’s not mentioned before that they are too difficult to be done within a month. So this one should be done this month.

Thank you. It would still be nice to have it implemented.

To be honest, not too urgent for me too.

Anyway, when you say “budget to support”, how much we’re talking about ? (in case it becomes urgent)

This feature will definitely be useful for many users.

without a doubt this feature will be useful. But we have things to do which would be more useful, for example Reports. So this is good to hear it’s not so urgent for you.

Regarding the budget, it depends from the task. Starting from 50$.

For example, you may have noticed new Record tab under Customize & Integrate. We implemented it this week after user request and it costs 300$. But this is a big feature which allows to customize Database Record’s page HTML using WYSIWUG editor.
